Enhanced Oil Recovery Project:
This project is an important component of PDO North Oman Oil Fields as it was designed to prove the reliability and consistency of light oil production using Steam injection .
The PDO Fahud Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Pilot Project is a light oil thermBI injection facility designed to inject steam at a rate of up to 2,400 Tons Per Day.
The scope included Operation & Maintenance of the entire facility for the duration of 24 Months .
Project Description:
The project delivery consisted of entire facility Construction Supervision, Commissioning , and plant start-up . The team is also involved in the Operation & Maintenance of the entire facility and Training of Omani Nationals on the Operation of the Water & Steam Generation facility, Water Supply Wells and Oil Producers.
The supplied equipment ( by others) consisted of a complete water treatment plant that was designed to bring the ms value of the water from 14,500 to less than 300, and the Hardness value from 100 down to less than 1 ppm. A complete chemical package was also included to fully aid in providing the exact water specification as required by the Steam Generators .
Four Steam Generators:
Four Steam Generators were also supplied (by Others) where each unit is capable of injecting 500 tons per day@ 80% steam quality .
Highlights and Challenges
The operation team had limited time to review the entire project operation philosophies and swiftly implement best O&M practices on a day-to-day operations.
The Training modules had to be created from the foundation level and be implemented for the Omani operators in about 6 months.
